Abstract

The death of George Floyd, victim of police brutality, in Minneapolis, May 25, 2020, is another violent episode in the north american history of racism and sistemic violence against the african american population. On mainstream and social media, the images concerning Floyd's case and the protests that followed his untimely death occupied millions of user's timelines. In this context of image production in virtual activism, this article employs image, photography, theoretical language theories as basis to propose a critical analysis of the Blackout Tuesday movement as a modality of political manifestation.
